Pre-conference August 2024: Registration Now Closed
The IGU Commission for Political Geography pre-conference will take place at Queen’s University Belfast 22-24 August 2024 ahead of the International Geographical Congress taking place in Dublin 24-30 August 2024.
This event will be a unique opportunity to gather international scholars specialised in the sub-discipline of Political Geography worldwide. It will be the second time that such an event takes place, following a successful first edition prior to the IGU Centennial Congress held in Paris in 2022.

Professor Anna Secor to deliver Belfast pre-conference Keynote
Professor Anna Secor (Durham University) will deliver a keynote address at the Political Geography pre-conference in Belfast, kindly sponsored by the journal Environment and Planning C: Politics and Space.
Geopolitics Journal Post-Graduate Research Paper Award: $200
The journal Geopolitics will award $200 to the best PGR paper presented at the Political Geography Pre-Conference at Queen’s University Belfast 22-24 August 2024. The winner will also be invited to submit the paper to Geopolitics.
Candidates must be presenting their paper at the Belfast pre-conference.
